What is AllSync?

AllSync is a professional software solution for data backup, synchronization, and mirroring of data on Microsoft Windows. It is aimed at both home users and businesses and supports all common Windows versions (including Windows 11 and Windows Server 2025).

1. Core Functions & Modes

The software is profile-based. Each task is defined in a profile, with various copy modes available:

• Data Mirroring (1:1 Copy): Creates an exact copy from source to destination.
• Synchronization: Bidirectional synchronization between two or more folders.
• Backup: Creation of backups with support for backup generations (versioning).
• Incremental & Differential Backup: Stores only changed data to save space and time.
• QuickSync: Fast data synchronization without the need to create a permanent profile.

2. Technical Highlights

• Handling Locked Files: Through the Windows service Volume Shadow Copy (VSS), AllSync can copy files that are currently in use by other programs.
• Long Paths: Support for path lengths up to 32,767 characters.
• Data Security: Support for AES-256-bit encryption and compression in ZIP format.
• Permissions: Processing of NTFS permissions during the copy operation.
• Filtering: Extensive filters (exclusion/inclusion) by name, size, date, attributes, or using RegEx (Regular Expressions).

3. Automation (AllSync Scheduler)

The Scheduler allows tasks to be started fully automatically.

• Time Control: Daily, weekly, monthly, or at fixed intervals.
• Event Control: Start at system startup, login, logout, when connecting USB drives, during idle (Idle), or when changes occur in the file system (folder monitoring).
• Service Mode: With the AllSync Service Tool, the Scheduler can run as a Windows service, so that backups are performed even without a logged-in user.

4. Product Editions

AllSync is offered in three Editions which differ in functionality:

1. Home Edition: Only for private use on workstations.
2. Professional Edition: Extended functions for power users (e.g., VSS, profile chaining).
3. Business Edition: Full functionality including server support, remote connections, and installation as a Windows service.

5. Additional Tools & Utilities

The software includes various utility programs:

• File-Lock-Analyzer: Identifies processes that block access to files.
• Copy Method Benchmark: Tests the speed of different copy methods on your own hardware.
• ZIP File Manager: For checking and extracting AllSync ZIP archives.
• Data Export/Import: Easy transfer of settings and profiles to other computers.

• Automates backups when Windows shuts down.
