Folder Filter

The folder filter allows you to exclude specific folders from a search operation.

Filter Type

Using the Inclusive and Exclusive filter types, you can specify how filter texts are applied during the search.
  • Inclusive
This will only search folders that match an activated filter text. For example, if you define the filter text Test, then only folders named Test will be searched.
  • Exclusive
This will exclude all folders from the search that match an activated filter text. For example, if you define the filter text Test, then all folders named Test will be excluded from the search.

Filter List

The filter list contains all existing filter texts for folders. Each filter text can be activated for the search operation via its checkbox. To add a new filter, please click the Folder Filter button in the toolbar. A right-click on a filter in the list opens a context menu to edit or delete a filter.

Filter Texts

The comparison with the filter text is always performed using the name of a folder. If a filter text contains the character \\, then the comparison is performed with the complete folder path. By using various wildcards such as * or ?, you have the option to filter multiple folders with a single filter text. Windows environment variables can also be used in the filter text. You can also specify multiple folder filters in a filter text by separating them with the character |.

Examples:
  • C:\Windows
  • C:\Prog*
  • temp??
  • C:\Users\%USERNAME%
  • C:\Windows|C:\Users|C:\Temp

Options

  • Treat wildcards in the filter as text
With this option, the characters of wildcards in a filter text are treated as normal text.
  • Consider case sensitivity of filters
With this option, case sensitivity is considered when comparing a folder name with a filter text.
  • Do not filter subfolders
Activating this option only has an effect if you filter a folder using the Inclusive filter type and the complete path. This ensures that its subfolders are included in the search operation and not excluded.
