AllDup Manual

Database

This saves the created checksums to a database when using the search methods File content, Similar pictures and Similar music. For subsequent search operations, the checksums are then retrieved from the database instead of recalculating them repeatedly. This has the advantage that the time-consuming calculation of checksums for unchanged files is omitted, and the search consequently takes considerably less time.

Saving checksums can be activated for the following search methods:
  • File content
For each comparison method, a separate checksum is saved in the database. With 5 comparison methods, up to 5 different checksums can thus be saved per file in the database.
  • Similar pictures
For each comparison method and checked picture alteration, a separate checksum is saved in the database. With 9 comparison methods and 7 additional checks for possible picture alterations, up to 72 different checksums can thus be saved per picture in the database.
  • Similar music
For each measurement duration and used comparison method, a separate checksum is saved in the database.
Notes:
  • The database cannot be used on Windows XP.
  • The database can only be used by one AllDup instance.

Options

  • Reset

  • New
This deletes the database file and creates a new database file.
