Can't figure out why Alldup isn't scanning one of my source folders

Post by tiny »

Please help. I'm struggling with this software and have spent a lot of time trying to figure my way around. I can't get the search function to include a particular folder in my search. I checked, and its settings are no different than the folder that Alldup does scan. I have confirmed in the source file window that it's set to include subfolders for both. It's a very targeted search of folders that definitely contain the same files, which I was doing to confirm that the program was actually removing duplicates before I started using it. I can confirm these settings also:

Comparison of files from all source folders
Search method is by file name, extension, attributes, files size and content with Byte-by-Byte used for the comparison method.
File filter is setup inclusive for *.doc, *.docx, *.txt, *.xls, *.xlsx.
Folder filter is setup to always exclude system folders.

Does anyone have any ideas? This is running on a new Omnibook with the latest version of Windows, AllDup v4.5.72. I've attached screenshots, and the first folder is the one that AllDup doesn't scan.

Thank you,
Julie

So you're wanting to scan; New Found Floppy 3 & AA Lotus Notes ?

What does your, lastsearch.txt, file show?

"OneDrive", so I suppose that is some sort of "cloud"?
Are both of those directories (including expected files) actually (physically) "local", on your computer?

New Found Floppy 3 does have some of Include filter files?
And some of those are in fact duplicated with that directory tree, &/or within AA Lotus Notes?

Hello,

Yes, those folders, and Onedrive is a cloud server, and I think AllDup is able to access files there and has deleted some appropriately during my testing. No, they're in the cloud, not on my computer at all. I wondered if that could be it, but am going to go back and confirm that it's done so with other files in the cloud. Yes, confirmed both directories include duplicates because one contains a backup of the other many eons ago, and that's what the floppy disk is. So 100% there are duplicates. Knowing this, I could just delete them manually, but I'm using it as a low-risk test before jumping full in with the program for more important files. I have my txt file from a run I did earlier, and I might have changed the criteria, just seeing if different things work, but it's mostly the same. Same results anyway.

Thank you!

You're using the database.
Wonder if that might be the issue?

If you were to disable usage of the database, does AllDup then find your wanted files?

(You might want to backup, or rename, the database's directory, such that you can restore it - theoretically, without losing its data [if that is important to you].)
