Re: Search Results Window Crashes in AllDup 4.4.42 on Windows 10 Home

(AllDup) CPU & RAM usage when this happens? Do you have Preview enabled? If you only expand all, then scroll down (without otherwise selecting or doing anything else), will that complete successfully or do you again crash while scrolling? System specs including video? Are your video drivers up t...

So I fire up AllDup & I'm see this little dialog box pop up & guess what, I then see \\XYZ\abc & with that, I then knew why it was slow in loading.

Thank you :-).

Re: content subset comparison

A File Content search, Byte by Byte method, gives you the option to "First compare a data block at the end of the files".

How To Hide The Log in the Results List

How To Hide (un-show) The Log in the Results List? As it is, I run a scan, & the results pop up. In the Results List, I click the Log (button). The Log displays. All is well at that point. I've seen the Log, now I want to hide it. How? If I click Log again, like to toggle it, is simply displays ...

Re: Slow to open when device offline

Same issue, slightly different bend... (Man, I wish I had remembered that I posted this thread before spending a lot of time trying to diagnose what was going on...) Slow to open when you have yet to access a particular network resource. So my drive/folder list has stuff like: C:\TMP \\NAS\BACKUP\ \...

Re: Problem with some Unicode characters and Case sensitivity

I still must be doing something wrong, not understanding enough. With .v2 I get 1..394 directories, 1512 items (so including subdirectories) in total, but still I'm coming up with errors. (I'm not really familiar with such things, so I'll say my system is plain-jane en-US, with whatever is defaulted...

Re: Problem with some Unicode characters and Case sensitivity

. period or a space at the end of a file or folder name Not quite sure that is "illegal". (OK, so they recommend against it.) Might be awkward to work with (like maybe needing fsutil, was it?, or using other creativity to create the file), might be that many utilities will fail when runni...

Pause option on File Manager | Delete

Pause option on File Manager Screen while Deletions are ongoing.

As is, the only options is Cancel.

Might be nice to also offer a Pause option (for those huge, long running deletes, when you don't particularly want to Cancel, just Pause, for a period of time.)

Re: renaming false positive duplicates

AllDup uses %1 and %2 as filename and file extension How/where do you do that? (I'd think what you're wanting would be better handled with a file renaming tool. There are renamers out there that can pick up on a parent directories name. Though to extract parts of that name would likely take multipl...

Re: select by percentage produces odd results

Thinking it is also going to depend on how the Match algorithm works. As in we may look at a set of files & say, yeah, they "match". But the algorithm looks & says, no, those files don't fit the criteria. This is found, 80% (& I imagine it would also match at a much higher % to...

After that (OK-ing the OK), AllDup disappears.

(Looks like the issue is not new, at least there since 4.4.14.
I do not see the issue on Win10.)

Re: Slow to open when device offline

Hmm... on a faster computer now, (not networked) Win7, following my steps above, can't really say I'm seeing an issue. When I paste the path in, there is a momentary delay before it "checkmarks" itself. But it appears that opening speed is not affected, or at least not in a noticeable way....
