AllSync Scheduler Tasks
A task is comprised of all the settings required for automatically running one or more profiles. The settings can be accessed via the Edit button.Schedule – Startup Mode
Once
The task is run once at a specified date and time.Interval
The task is run daily at regular intervals starting at the time specified and continuing until a specified end time.Daily
The task is run every day at a specified time.Weekly
The task is run at a specified time on various days of the week.Monthly
The task is run at a specified time on various days of the month.When starting Windows
This startup mode causes the task to be started when the user logs on to Windows. Don't forget to activate the general AllSync Scheduler option Automatically start and activate AllSync Scheduler when starting Windows. You can suspend starting the task by keeping the CTRL key pressed when starting AllSync Scheduler.Notes pertaining to AllSync Scheduler Service:
When using AllSync Scheduler Service the task is started when starting Windows. No user logon to Windows is required. Use the Tolerance option to specify the maximum start time of your Windows system. The task is not started unless AllSync Scheduler Service is started within the specified tolerance period.
When exiting Windows
This startup mode enables a task to be started when performing the following actions:- Log off user
- Restart / shut down Windows
- Standby / hibernate
Notes:
- This startup mode has no effect when AllSync Scheduler is started as a service.
- The actions "Standby / hibernate" are only available at Windows XP or Server 2003. Windows Vista or higher don't support canceling this actions.
- You can suspend starting the task by keeping the CTRL key pressed when shutting the Windows session down.
- When running a task a dialog window is displayed by Windows; it can normally be ignored. When encountering problems with the Windows dialog, use the AllSync Scheduler startup mode option Increase waiting time until displaying the Windows shutdown dialog.
Link
This startup mode causes a check to be conducted to determine whether a link has been newly established to the specified data source and whether the task has been successfully started. The data source is detected anew if it wasn't yet present during the previous check.Monitoring
This startup mode causes a check to be conducted of the data source for changes and the task to be started when the specified number of changes has been reached. Checks can be conducted for the following changes:- Renaming, creation and deletion of files
- Renaming, creation and deletion of folders
- Attributes of files and folders
- File size
- File modified date
- Access permissions of files and folders
The Interval property enables you to specify that a pause of a minimum length is to be adhered to upon the conclusion of a task until the task can be restarted.
Note:
In order for a data source to be monitored in the network, the user of AllSync Scheduler must be a member of the Backup Operators group. See Computer Management – System Tools – Local Users and Groups – Groups – Backup Operators – Add to Group.Schedule – Properties
Start Time
Time at which the task is started.End Time
This time specifies the end of the interval. When you specify an end time of 00:00:00, the interval automatically ends at 12 midnight.Date
Date on which the task is started (once).Interval
This entry enables the interval for the startup modes Interval and Monitoring to be specified.Tolerance
This enables you to specify a timeframe within which a task can still be run if the task couldn't be started at the specified start time. This is necessary, for example, when another task is to run at the start time.Data source
This entry enables you to specify a drive or folder for the startup modes Link and Monitoring.Days of the Week (Weekly)
The days of the week (Monday to Sunday) are entered here for the weekly option.Days of the Week (Monthly)
With the Monthly option, the task can also be started on the first, second, third, fourth or last Monday to Sunday of the month.Months
The various months of the year (January to December) are entered here for the monthly option.Calendar Week
The various calendar weeks from 1 to 53 are entered here for the weekly option.Calendar Days
The various days of the month from 1 to 31 and 'Last day' are entered here for the monthly option.When exiting Windows
The task can be started in connection with the following actions:- Log off user
- Restart / shut down Windows
- Standby / hibernate
Profiles
Here you can specify the profiles used to start the task. The profiles can be individually deactivated by unchecking the checkboxes. The arrow buttons can be used to change the sequence in which the profiles are started. The Don't use profile chaining option enables you to deactivate profile chaining for all profiles.Options
Upon Task Startup
Do not start task unless this folder is accessible
This option prevents a task from being run unless the specified folder is accessible when the task is started.Start task immediately when last performed more than X days ago
This option causes a task to be started immediately upon activating AllSync Scheduler if the last time the task was started precedes a specified number of days ago.Automatically remove entries from log file when they are more than ... day(s) old
This option causes the log file to be checked every time the task is started and all entries to be removed when they are older than the number of days specified here.User must confirm task start
This option shows up a message box before the task will be started.Wait this number of seconds before starting the profiles
This option enables you to specify a delay period before the copy operation of the profiles will be started.Change the window state of the scheduler
This enables you to specify the window state of the scheduler when the task will be started.While Task Running
Don't show File Conflict dialog
This option causes the File Conflict dialog not to be displayed.Upon Task Completion
Show info message after the task has completed
This option shows up a message box after the task has completed. AllSync uses the system command MSG (ex: Windows Vista/7) and the system command NET SEND (ex: Windows XP).Note: Apparently Windows Home editions do not have the msg.exe command installed. It does work on Windows Business, Enterprise or Ultimate editions.
Upon completing processing of task
This enables you to specify which action is to be performed when the processing of a task has completed:- Shut down computer
- Shut down Windows
- Restart Windows
- Log off user
- Standby
- Hibernate
- Shut down AllSync Scheduler
- Lock computer
Change the window state of the scheduler
This enables you to specify the window state of the scheduler when the processing of a task has completed.Run Period
This option enables the period to be specified during which the task may be started. The settings of this option take precedence over AllSync Scheduler's general option Run Period. Any tasks still running outside of the run period can be automatically terminated.Don't send log to the email addresses indicated in AllSync Scheduler's options
This option enables you to suspend sending the email to the email addresses in AllSync Scheduler's general options.Send log to these addresses
This option causes the log of all the profiles run of a task to be sent to the specified email address(es). If there is more than one address, they have to be separated by a comma. No emails can be sent unless you make all the settings for the mail server in the Email section of AllSync Scheduler's options.When the email is to be sent:
The following settings are possible:- Always
- Only when an error occurs
- Only when changes occur
- Only when errors and changes occur
- Only when an error or a change occurs
